Big browns, golden flanks lit up in the Patagonian sun, and that grin that says it all. Jerry didn’t just fish these last days… he earned them. Long drifts, cold mornings, clean eats, and the kind of takes that make your hands shake a little. From thick-shouldered trout resting in the net to perfect releases back into turquoise water — this is how you close out a trip. And yes… even a Patagonian beetle tried to get in on the action. By now the honeymoon is over, the shoulders are cooked, the casts are honest, and the river doesn’t give gifts — you earn everything. Big rainbows, tight lines, long drifts, river lunches under old trees, a few swims (Patagonia tax 💦), and a whole lot of laughs along the way. This is what a real fishing trip looks like when you stay long enough to get past the highlight reel. Jerry came for a trip. He stayed for the full experience. 5 days in Caye Caulker, Belize and the flats deliv 5 days in Caye Caulker, Belize and the flats delivered the full mixed bag: ✅ 2 baby tarpon (my first ever) ✅ 15 lb permit ✅ Barracuda on a fly (they told me that’s rare — usually it’s a cut-off) ✅ A scrappy little bonefish The best part? It wasn’t about endless casting. It was about seeing fish, getting in position, waiting for the right moment… then making one shot count. Huge credit to Captain/Guide Parnel Coc for the eyes, the setups, and the calm coaching. And sharing it with Roberto & Lisa made the whole week even better.
